Why run or walk with Baltimore Frontrunners?
We offer a fun, supportive way to stay active with the LGBTQ community. Members often improve their pace and distance, and our social events help you build friendships and find community.
Do I need to be a member to try it out?
No—newcomers are welcome at any weekly run. Membership isn’t required to participate.
How much are dues and how do I pay?
$25/year, covering club activities and expenses. Payment is easiest via PayPal.
Are visitors welcome?
Yes—come join us and explore Charm City!
Do I have to identify as LGBTQ+ to join?
No. We welcome all LGBTQ+ and ally athletes.
Do you meet in all weather?
Yes! We run in all weather. For severe weather we will issue cancelation notice on Instagram. Use your best judgement if you don't feel comfortable running. Safety First!
What should I expect on my first visit?
Let someone know you’re new—we’ll welcome you, explain the route, and help match your pace. We gather, stretch, do announcements, introductions, and often socialize after.
Am I fast enough?
Yes—no pace or experience requirements. All levels are welcome.
Are routes easy to follow?
Saturday routes are simple (waterfront). Monday/Wednesday routes are more complex—review maps ahead of time or we can pair you with a current member with similar pace.
Is parking available?
Saturday: lot parking is available and normally has plenty of space.
Monday/Wednesday: street parking (meters often free after 6pm).
Is there a bag check?
No official bag check, but members can often hold items in their cars.
Where does the name come from?
From The Front Runner (1974) by Patricia Nell Warren, a novel about a gay running coach and athlete.
